Hewlett Packard is a technology solutions provider to consumers, businesses and institutions globally. The company’s offerings span IT infrastructure, personal computing, access devices, global services and imaging and printing solutions for consumers, enterprises and small and medium businesses.
HP was facing problems in its project management processes and other support processes in the delivery of services to their clients. This led to missing milestones and considerable delays, while increasing costs on delivering projects.
To provide a solution to lower costs in delivering quality managed projects within a specific time frame.
HP needed to reduce their exposure to IR35 liabilities and long term contracts. Additionally, addressing the inefficiencies of retaining knowledge and full utilisation of third party staff were high priorities.
Allied provided HP with our in house Project Management and Project Support personnel, to underpin their business requirements.
Project Management personnel were involved in the entire life-cycle which includes:
- Project planning and implementation
- Clear communication of technical and project issues with plans distributed to the clients, relevant third parties and HP
- Risk management and assessment, to evaluate any impact on financial and technological aspects
Our ultimate goal was to provide services that had the flexibility and efficiency required to manage the PM resources within the agreed service levels. This also included provision for ramp up or down of service, as and when required; also planning and taking into account any necessary timing required to bring new staff up to speed.
By deploying Allied's own project management professionals, working across multiple projects simultaneously, we helped HP to increase efficiency and lower costs by around 15%. In addition they easily managed to accomplish SLAs of 95%, as agreed upon, and we eliminated their IR35 and contractor liabilities.
